LETHBRIDGE – Investigators targeting an alleged fentanyl dealer in Lethbridge and Coalhurst have seized cash, vehicles, pills, and a loaded gun.

The investigation included ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime and gang team, Lethbridge Police Service, and the RCMP Coalhurst detachment, and wrapped up Dec. 1. According to ALERT, 271 fentanyl pills were seized, along with more than $13,000 cash, two vehicles, and a handgun equipped with a prohibited 22-round magazine. The gun had apparently been illegally modified, and was allegedly unsecured.

A 29-year-old man was arrested leaving a home on Mt. Blakiston Rd. W. Daud Mohamed faces 14 charges related to weapons, proceeds of crime, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 21-year-old who police describe as an associate of Mohamed, Morgan Mitchell, faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as proceeds of crime.

S/Sgt. Rod Klassen of ALERT says dealers are profiting off of human lives.

“We are all aware of the perils and societal cost of this horrible drug and ALERT will continue to target fentanyl dealers and hold them accountable,” Klassen said in a news release.
