Community agencies lending a hand to those in need for Project Connect

Mar 21, 2017 | 4:35 PM

LETHBRIDGE – Project Connect is back this month to help people in need living in Lethbridge connect with critical services.

On Saturday (Mar. 25), those experiencing homelessness, or who may be at risk of becoming homeless, are invited to the Fritz Sick Memorial between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to meet with dozens of community agencies.

Project Connect is designed as a free, one-stop opportunity. Information on housing support, victim counseling, immigration, addictions, income support and much more will be available.

All participants will receive a hot lunch, another bagged lunch to take away with them and products to address their everyday needs.

Organizers are still looking for donations of toiletries and personal items to hand out at the event (see poster above). They can be dropped off at either the north or west Save-On Foods locations and the McMan Youth, Family and Community Services location until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday (Mar. 23), or on the third floor of City Hall until noon on Friday (Mar. 24).

The semi-annual event is put on by Social Housing in Action.
